RIP John CarboneThis video & slideshow is a lasting tribute to honour the life of Sudbury's John Carbone who passed away suddenly last week.As evidenced by the long procession of dump trucks, heavy trucks and other vehicles, John was well respected in the local construction industry, Sudbury Italian community and Greater Sudbury in general. He will be missed by many. Sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. This presentation is a collaboration between myself and Gino Donato.....

Tonight I was just playing around with some sunset photography. These photos were taken with my Sony A7R3 and my new Sigma 12-24 lens. The starburst effect you see on the sun was created by using a small f-stop... in this case it was shot at f/16 I believe. Kinda cool, eh? The low angle of this shot helps to add impact to this sunset photo.

200 Larch Virtual Tour and VideoI began to work with CMHA Sudbury/Manitoulin in October of 2020 to help them with their plans for a virtual grand opening of this new shared services hub in downtown Sudbury.Because the COVID-19 pandemic prevented them from having a conventional grand opening/open house, the first phase involved the creation of a virtual tour that would allow everyone to see the facility, safely. This was created using Matterport's 3D modelling solution. The model is embedded in.....

Today I did something a little different... I photographed a family portrait session. The weather was fantastic and it was great to create a family photograph for them again... it had been a number of years since the last time. What a great memory this will be for them, in a year that has been mostly forgettable due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today I made the trip about 15 minutes south of Sudbury to photograph this serene lakefront recreational property situated on Elbow Lake in Estaire, ON .For this shoot I took conventional listing photos, created a Matterport 3D scan (Digital Twin) of the main building, and got to use my new drone commercially for the first time, to capture some aerial photographs of the property. Samples of my photos and the Matterport 3D scan (virtual tour) are presented below, along with links to the realtor'.....

After winning a DJI Mavic Mini drone back in May of this year in a local contest, and spending countless hours getting familiar with it, I decided to pursue a drone pilot license. Over the past few weeks I spent several hours studying the required content and early this morning I decided to write the Transport Canada exam.I am proud to announce that, as this blog post suggests, I am now a certified RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System) aka drone pilot for basic operations. It's a huge first.....

This weekend I took my 360 camera out into the community to have a little fun with it at a couple of Sudbury's landmarks. I hit up the Big Nickel at Dynamic Earth and the Vale Superstack in Copper Cliff. The 360° field of view in these cameras allow it to capture an entire scene in ALL directions. Later, once these spherical panorama images are transferred to a computer or smartphone, they can be manipulated in some pretty creative ways. The result of this tweaking produces these common vie.....

Whenever pets and their humans get together in front of a camera it's always a fun time. And this past weekend was no exception as I had the opportunity to photograph the staff of Lockerby Animal Hospital along with their pets. There were both cats and dogs in this energetic group and in one case, both at the same time. I'll have to admit, it proved to be a challenge at times to get both pets and humans looking at the camera at the same time, but we succeeded in the end. A little patience an.....
