Fall Engagement

Posted in Engagements on September 30th, 2008

This past weekend we had the opportunity to photograph a young, engaged couple on a beautiful fall day in Northern Ontario. Although Cristina and Patrick will be getting married in February, they chose to have their engagement portraits taken amidst the gorgeous colors of autumn. Shelly and I had a wonderful time these two during our session, and I think you’d agree with us when we say they make a great looking couple! Looking forward to the wedding!!

Backyard Wedding

This past weekend we photographed the backyard wedding of a vibrant young couple in Chelmsford, Veronica and Edmund. The weather was perfect and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves once the everything got under way. And this was a first for us… the groom wore a kilt, representative of his Celtic roots. For their formal photos, we used the lush grounds of The Colonial Golf Course in Chelmsford. Below is a sample photo from that day.

Fishin’ at Ella Lake

Posted in General on August 10th, 2008

Today we spent the afternoon and evening out at my in-law’s cottage on Ella Lake in Capreol. Although the weather wasn’t the greatest with rain on and off, the kids managed to get in a little bit of fishing from the dock, and were quite successful. I enjoyed being the observer as I am not much of a fisherman at all. I didn’t manage to bait one hook for my daughter, but that was it. The only thing I managed to snag were a few great shots seen below.

High Falls Trek

Posted in General on July 27th, 2008

Today, for something completely different, we decided to head up north to Onaping Falls to check out the view from the A. Y. Jackson Lookout. Even though I’ve lived in Sudbury all my life, I have never been there so I was really looking forward to this. As well, there is a place somewhere along the river that is a popular spot with photographers taking engagement and family portraits, so I wanted to check that out too. Well, we got out there a little later than we wanted to and Shelly and the girls weren’t really keen on hiking along the path to the bridge, so we just hung out for a while near the observation deck to enjoy the view and pick a few blueberries.

Kaila and Anthony’s Wedding

Posted in Weddings on July 20th, 2008

On Saturday we were guests at a lovely wedding held on the beautiful grounds of the Timberwolf Golf Club here in Sudbury. The relatively brief ceremony was held outside under the scorching sun, but the young couple, Kaila Levola and Anthony Cusinato, were not phased by heat. Later we were all treated to a delicious 5-course meal and a lot of partying! Although I was not the hired “tog” for this occasion (Tony Galic of Candid Studios was), we did manage to sneak away with the bride and groom later in the evening to capture some images of our own. One such image is shown below.

Family Session, literally!

Posted in Family on July 19th, 2008

Last weekend I was asked to photograph my cousin and his family. It was a very quick session as one of my cousins had to leave early to go to work, but nevertheless we managed to get several great images of the McLellands, in various combinations. A photo of the entire family is shown below.

The Dragons Are Here!!

Today we headed down to Bell Park, but not for a wedding or an engagement session this time. Today we went down to watch some of the racing at the 2008 Sudbury Dragon Boat Festival. One of the top teams participating today, Team Chiro, arranged for me to come down and take a team photo because in two weeks they will be off to compete in an international event in Malaysia! Good luck Team Chiro!! One of the attractions at this year’s festival was The Sudbury Regional Hospital Foundation’s dunk tank. Money was raised for the Foundation by offering the public an opportunity to dunk local dignitaries like Sudbury Regional Hospital CEO, Vickie Kaminski.

Engagement Session with Janet and Bill

Posted in Engagements on July 8th, 2008

We had a great time tonight with Janet and Bill for their engagement session. They are an easy going, down-to-earth couple who are getting married later this year in September. Although they suggested that they were not very photogenic, I think you’ll see in the following images that this is clearly not the case. We captured some great images and had a lot of fun doing so! I’m very much looking forward to their wedding and the opportunity to capture even more moments that they will treasure for a lifetime.

Busy summer weekend

Posted in Engagements, Weddings on July 6th, 2008

This past weekend was one of the best and the busiest so far this summer. The weather was absolutely beautiful on both Saturday and Sunday, and its a good thing too because there was a lot happening here in Greater Sudbury. The Northern Lights Festival Boreal was taking place at Bell Park while the Italian Festival was running in the West End at the Caruso Club, where else!!

Well, we were busy too! On Saturday we had the pleasure of photographing a terrific couple, Kristina and Mike, as they pledged their love for each other with their children as brides maids and groomsmen. On Sunday, we spent a few hours with Dinah and Ryan exploring various locations in the city, looking ideal settings for their engagement photos. We captured some fantastic images and got know them a little bit better. Their wedding is coming up in September later this year and we’re really looking forward to it!

Killarney Civil Union

Posted in Weddings on June 26th, 2008

Last weekend we had the privilege of photographing the first civil union of a same-sex couple to take place in the small northern Ontario town of Killarney. The service was held on the lodge property, on the shores of Georgian Bay and the Killarney Channel. Afterwards, my wife and I went on a little trek to the Killarney East Lighthouse to check out the spectacular view.
